About us
Expert-led remote expeditions to Antarctica, the Arctic and other remote wilderness destinations.
We specialise in intimate small group expeditions, predominantly to Antarctica and the high Arctic. Partnering with regional experts we curate expeditions to explore and experience some of the world’s most stunning and remote locations. Our trips are designed to experience a destination in depth, to disconnect from daily life and reconnect with nature. For us, the ultimate luxury is having the time and space to have a truly immersive wilderness experience with a small group of like-minded travellers. While our trips are in remote destinations, they are designed for almost anyone with reasonable mobility, health and fitness. No prior experience or training is required.
Islands & Ice Travel was founded in 2021 by experienced expedition leader, nature photographer and lawyer, David Sinclair. David has skied across Greenland, climbed the highest mountains north of the Arctic Circle and participated in around 65 polar tourism expeditions from 2007 as a guide, expedition leader and host (including to east and west Greenland, Svalbard, the Canadian high Arctic, Antarctic Peninsula, South Georgia, New Zealand sub-Antarctic islands, Macquarie Island, Ross Sea, Adelie Coast, Dronning Maud Land and the South Pole). He has travelled throughout all seven continents to over 60 countries. He has extensive knowledge of Arctic and Antarctic destinations, logistics and regulations, is an accredited Senior Polar Guide with Polar Tourism Guides Association and holds wilderness first aid, coxswain and other outdoor qualifications. David holds a combined Bachelor of Science (Biochemistry & Botany) and Law degree, is an experienced in-house lawyer, award-winning nature photographer (taking out the polar category in the inaugural Frank Hurley awards) and a father of two curious gregarious girls.

David’s deep and practical experience in risk management, project management, navigating regulatory issues combined with his extensive global travel and polar field experience leave him perfectly placed to plan and deliver remote expeditions.
In January 2026 David hosted a space analogue scientific expedition to Dronning Maud Land which he helped plan and deliver from inception including working closely with the client to secure permits for the activities. You can read more about this expedition here.
Jacinta Moloney is our office manager. Jacinta holds a degree in Engineering (Chem) and is an experienced project manager (including for KBR, Veolia Water and Arup), providing back office support for the business from Hobart, Tasmania. Jacinta is the Founder and owner of Wild State Skincare (which our guests just loved in the dry Antarctic air).
